Easter Break

The children will finish school at 11.30am on Friday 07 April.  The school will remain closed from Monday 10 April to Friday 21 April inclusive and will reopen on Monday 24 April.

Most queries can be answered by accessing our website www.stpatricksns.ie or by viewing our Newsletters which are regularly emailed to each family and are also on our website.  Please make our website your “first port of call”.

The Reception/Administration Office hours are 8.30am to 2.30pm.  The office closes for lunch from 12.00-12.30pm daily.  It would be much appreciated if telephone calls to the school were made only in emergency situations, and only after 9.00am

Punctuality

It is imperative that all children are punctual in the morning. The 20 minutes between 08.30am and 08.50am

is a very important time in the school day. This is when the younger children have activity time or structured

play. It is also a time when teachers get to correct the homework or hear children’s reading.

Bumbleance Collection

We have a Bumbleance Collection container in the school. The items accepted (in good working condition only please) are as follows:

DVDs; Video Games; Hand Held Consoles; iPods/MP3; iPads/Tablets; Phones.

If you have any of these items for recycling, drop them into the main office.

They are also advised to bring an extra drink with them along with their usual lunch.

“Knock-out Trials” (for children in 3rd - 6th classes only) for selection of School Athletics Team to compete in  Cumann na mBunscol Athletics Championships

The children who have made it onto the shortlists have been informed. Final selection will be made from these lists. It should be noted that selection is based on a number of points – athletic ability, team spirit, reliability, sportsmanship, etc. The remainder of the “Knock-out Trials will be held after school. Those who make it onto the shortlists must attend if they want to be considered for the team. Those selected for the team must be available for the championships (held at Morton Stadium in Santry) the last week of May and/or the first week in June. The following schedule has been put in place, but further dates will be advised in the coming Newsletters.

Friday 24th March U10 Boys from 2.15 - 2.45
Monday 27th March U10 Girls from 2.15 - 2.45

NOTE: All trials take place outdoors and are weather permitting. Trials may have to be cancelled at short notice if the ground is too wet. Please discuss pick-up/collection arrangements with your child. Children should line up in yard outside Diswellstown Door at 2.15 where they will be met by teacher. Also note that more dates/times will be added in order to prepare for the event. Children will be informed at school of any further arrangements and notices will appear in Newsletters.

Finals of D15 Cross Country League
The Grand Finals of the Dublin 15 League will be held at Morton Stadium, Santry on Tuesday 4th April. Permission letters (with further details) will be distributed shortly to all children on the Cross Country Team. Supporters are welcome but please note that parking is restricted and you may have to park at the nearby shopping centre. All members of cross country team will be provided with special school singlet this week. For the Finals Day, they should wear black shorts/leggings, plain white t-shirt (school one fine) with athletics running singlet over it. After the event, it is very important that children return all school kits ASAP. Please return clean kits in bag with your child's name clearly written on it (paper bag is fine) as all kits need to be signed back in. Kits will be collected from classrooms.

URGENT Request for Volunteers for Confirmation Reception

This year our 6th Class children are making their Confirmation on Monday 3rd April at 11am in St. Mochta’s Church, Porterstown.  We are appealing for volunteers to help with the Confirmation reception, which will take place in St. Mochta’s Parish Centre following the ceremony.

We ideally need eight helpers. Due to high numbers,  the Confirmation ceremony will take approx. two hours – so volunteers will be required to be in the Parish Centre from 12.30 to 2.30pm approx. for the reception (this will include the clean-up following the reception).  We appreciate that this may clash with your child finishing school, but would appeal to volunteers to make arrangements for friends/family to collect their children.

Please text/phone Sabine 087 2869804 or Adrienne 086 3192656 if you are available to help.

Reminders

Staff Car Park

Parents are asked not to park in the Staff Car Park at any time between 8.00am and 3.00pm as we have, and will continue to have, a number of Teaching Practice teachers/visitors over the coming months. The only exception to this is parents collecting disabled or injured children.  We would be grateful if you could also inform anyone who may be collecting your child/children on your behalf of this procedure.

If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc. during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave).  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Leaving School Early

The teacher should be notified in advance if possible, should a child need to be collected early.  Pupils who

leave before the end of the school day, must be signed out at Reception by a parent/guardian

If you need to collect your child during the school day, please do not do so during break times

(10.20-10.30am and 12.00-12.30pm) as the children are in the school yard at this time. If an emergency situation arises, please ring the office before break time and we will arrange to have your child at Reception

for collection.  However, please note Reception is closed from 12.00-12.30pm daily. Your cooperation in this matter would be very much appreciated.

St Patrick’s Business Network

St Patrick’s School Journal contains a list of Businesses & Services provided by Parents in the School. This is an excellent resource for parents looking for a reliable provider of various services.  The List of Businesses is being finalised shortly. If you are a Parent that has a business or service and would like to be listed, please contact Daniel on daniel@cms-ireland.com ASAP.

School Insurance

The School Insurance company is Allianz and your child is covered under a 24/7 Pupil Insurance Policy.  For more information, see www.allianz.ie/otherproducts/schools.

Access to Classrooms After Hours

With the exception of those attending Extra-Curricular Activities, children are not permitted to re-enter the classroom after 2.10pm. This is to prevent loss or damage to school property.   If in an absolute emergency (forgotten books, copies and general belongings does not generally constitute an emergency!) a child needs to gain access to his/her classroom outside school hours, they should come to Reception.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The school looks after the bookings and payment requests for Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Emma Louise Dance Academy and Chess.  If your child decides not to rejoin the new blocks of any of the above activities, it is essential that you email info@stpatricksns.ie so that we can remove your child from the list, and offer the place to another child.  It will also mean that you will not receive payment requests unnecessarily for the activity.

2nd & 3rd class Basketball Information

If your child would like to re-enrol for basketball for term 3, please return the form by Fri 24th March 2017.  The term will run from 25th April 2017 – 20th June 2017 (2.10 to 3.05 pm).  It is a 9 week term. Please return the form as soon as possible as there is a large number of children on the waiting list and Ms O’Reilly would like to accommodate as many as I can. REMINDER: TERM 2 ENDS ON MARCH 28TH 2017.
