Mid-Term Break
The school will be closed on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 February for Mid-Term Break.  It will reopen on Monday 20 February at 08.30am.

Absences due to illness
Whilst there is no need to telephone the school if your child is sick, we would greatly appreciate if you would contact us if your child contracts a contagious illness e.g. measles, mumps, rubella, etc.  There are children in the school who are at increased risk of contracting these illnesses.  Parents must acknowledge their child’s absence from school due to minor illnesses on their return, in writing, in the child’s School Journal or via a note to their child’s class teacher.

CCC Open Evening for First Year Students 2013
An Open Evening is taking place today, Wednesday 08 February, for First Year Students for September 2013 as follows:
2.30-5.30 – Invitation to Parents/Students to visit classrooms and view facilities;
7.00-8.00 – Invitation to Parents only to visit classrooms and view facilities;
8.00-9.00 – Presentation by Principal and other Senior Staff.
Application Forms will be distributed through the school in May 2012.

Parents Confirmation Meeting
The next Parents Preparation Meeting for Confirmation will take place in St Mochta’s Parish Centre tomorrow, Thursday 9th February 2012 at 8pm.  This meeting looks at the next elements of the Programme covering the Faith Friends program, Retreat and the Service of Light. Confirmation candidates SHOULD ALSO ATTEND on this night.  They will be meeting their Faith Friend on the evening.  At least one parent should attend this meeting. If you cannot attend, please contact the Parish office at (01) 8213218.

10 Year Celebrations – “Dick Whittington”
As part of our 10 Year Celebrations, all children are being treated to a show (Dick Whittington), here in the school, this Friday, 10 February during the school day. 

Reminder re dismounting bicycles, etc
In the interest of everyone’s safety, all cyclists (adults, students and siblings) should dismount from their bicycles at the gates to the school grounds.  Please also note that scooters, rollerblades or Heelys are not permitted on school grounds. Cycling is also not permitted on school grounds. We would greatly appreciate your support in this matter.

Safety Notice re Dropping Off/Collecting
Please note the following important safety points:

  • People may stop momentarily adjacent to the Bus parking area to drop off/collect their children. 
  • Please move as far up as possible on that stretch (to the gate past the pedestrian entrance) so that six or seven cars can drop off/collect at the same time. 
  • For their safety, children should be dropped off /collected only on the school side of the road.
  • Please do not stop on the main roundabout. 
  • Please also note that parents are not permitted to park in the Staff Car Park when dropping or collecting children.  If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc., we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave)

Extra Curricular Activities

Downey Lanigan Academy of Irish Dance
Our Annual F้is (Irish Dancing Competition) will take place Sunday the 26th of February 2012.  Venue: Dunboyne Castle Hotel. Please take note of this date.  All children will be participating.  Further information will be given via separate note in class this week.  Those who have perpetual trophies from F้is 2011, please return at next class.  Important: Mid term no classes 14th and 16th of February 2012.  Class returns 21st of February.  Any queries should be directed to Bernie at 087 6204772
4-Week Girls Soccer Club at St Patrick's
Calling all girls aged 8 - 11! Yesterday a 4-week Soccer Club began in the Hall from 3.05-4.00pm for girls aged 8-11 only. It will be given by FAI Qualified Coaches working with coaches from Castleknock Celtic Football Club. The total cost for the four sessions is only €10. There are still a few places available. Those interested should sign up for it at Reception ASAP. This is a wonderful opportunity for our girls to learn the basic skills and rules of this fast, fun, skilful game.

Volleyball
Today, a new set of 8 sessions begins. Anyone interested in the new term of 8 sessions at a cost of €25 should sign up at Reception.

Badminton
Anyone interested in the new term of 8 sessions of Badminton which started on Friday 02 February at a cost of €25 should sign up at Reception.

French for Children @ St. Patrick’s
6th class pupils: finish Primary in French style!  Some places available Thursdays @ 16.00 or on Saturday 11.45: enhance your learning with your school friends through fun activities (French hangman, bingo, French maths...). A few places left for Junior Infants up to 4th Class Thursday or Saturday mornings. Places in Early Years & Parents Sat. 12.35 class too (3-5 years). Try a class and see!
