Books for September 2012
It is our intention to expand the free school book scheme from September 2012.  Currently the children do not buy books for History, Geography, Science, SPHE or Music.  Next year’s booklists will not include English Readers, Irish or Religion textbooks.  This will be funded from school funds, PA funds and Extra Payments monies.  Each child will have access to the required books for these subjects at school and for homework.  In the last week of term, we will buy back second hand copies of Bun go Barr, English Readers and Alive O Textbooks. We are also delighted to accept donated copies.  Arrangements for each class group will be advised.

Match report: Somerton 22/5/12
Blue team – “On Tuesday May 22nd, my teammates and I played a hurling match for the school against St. Francis Xaviers. We won 3-7 to 1-2. It was an amazing match. We started the first half really well and by halftime we were winning comfortably. In the second half, we built on our lead and continued to dominate throughout the game. After some pressure at the end, we were relieved to win by a fine margin.”  Sean R, 6th class

School Match Report 22/05/2012
“On the 22nd of May, the girls school camogie team had a match against St. Francis Xaviers. The girls  got warmed up and were raring to go. The first half was very tense and tight. St. Patricks scored a goal but Saviours were right on our tails and scored a goal straight after us. In the end St. Patricks won with a score of 4-07 to Xaviers 3-02. It was a brilliant and skillful match.” Molly and Lauren, 6th class.

School Match Report 23/05/2012
“On Wednesday the 23rd of May, half of the school hurling team went to Somerton Park. We played against Scoil Olibhéir. It was a very warm day, and tensions were high because the other half of the team had won the day before. It was a tense first half and at half time it was 2-1 to 2-1. We all played our hearts out in the second half and we ended up winning the game 3-5 to 2-2. We were delighted with the win and the opposition were very tough. Well done to everyone on both teams and thanks to our coaches and parents for their great support and time.” Eoin C - 6th class

Moving House?
If you are moving house and your child will not be returning to St Patrick’s in the new school year, it is vital that you make contact with the class teacher or the Main Office as soon as possible as it will be necessary for you to complete a Transfer Form.   We have a number of children on waiting lists for all classes and we would like to be able to contact these parents as soon as possible.

Contact Details
It is essential that we have the correct address and contact details (e.g. home telephone, parents’ mobile numbers) for your child on our database in order for you to receive your child/children’s school reports, end of year letters, etc or to make contact with you if your child should fall ill during the school day. If any of your details have changed since the beginning of the school year, please complete a Change of Address/Contact Details Form, available from the office.

Volunteers URGENTLY needed to Help with Confirmation Reception
A much loved part of our children’s Confirmation day has always been enjoying some refreshments and chatting with their friends in the Parish Centre following the Confirmation ceremony.  Unfortunately, this year’s reception is in doubt due to lack of volunteers to help out on the day.  We are appealing for volunteers to help with the Confirmation reception, which will take place in St. Mochta’s Parish Centre following the ceremony.  The Confirmation ceremony will take approx. an hour and a half – so volunteers will be required to be in the Parish Centre from 12pm to 2.30pm approx. for the reception (this will include the clean-up following the reception).  We appreciate that this may clash with your child finishing school, but would appeal to volunteers to make arrangements for friends/family to collect their children. Please text/phone Colette 087 9380380 or Karen 087 4187253 if you are available to help, thank you.
