Christmas Holidays
The school closes on Friday 21 December, at 11.30am for the Christmas Holidays.  The school will reopen on
Monday 07 January 2013 at 08.30am.

No Presents Please
In view of the present economic state, we would prefer if children made a donation to our St Vincent De Paul appeal rather than bring presents into school.

New Access Arrangements
To minimise heat loss and for the safety and security of all the children, we are implementing a new system of access for children who arrive late for line-up in the morning.

  • 2nd – 6th Class children will enter via the Diswellstown (Tigers) Door only.
  • Junior Infants – 1st Class children will enter via the Main School Entrance only.

Friday Choir
This week is the last rehearsal before we break for Christmas. The choir will sing carols to send us off with a little Christmas cheer on the last day of school (Friday 21st) for a few short minutes. The children will be called down to the reception area at the end of the day and we will sing outside the office area. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff members who have taken it in turns to help supervise on Fridays. It's fantastic to have so many children singing in choir, they are making a great sound! I look forward to getting ready for our concert in the Helix next term. Merry Christmas everyone, Ger Meade.

5th classes Christmas Concert
The 5th classes will be performing together in the school hall for their parents and anyone else who would like to come along and get in the Christmas mood at 1:10pm tomorrow, Thursday 13 December. We look forward to performing our carols to a captive audience!

 Icy Mornings
On icy mornings, all children walking or using bicycles should enter the school grounds via the new pedestrian gate (Cyclists must walk with their bicycles.) All gritting is concentrated on the new pedestrian entrance, the pathway from the car drop off area/car park, the pathways around the building and the line up areas.

Snow Entry & Exit Arrangements
In Snowy weather, children are asked not to arrive into school until after 8.30am.
Entry Arrangements
All Infant and First Class Children will enter via the Luttrellstown door and go directly to their classrooms.
All Second to Sixth Class Children will enter via the Coolmine door and line up outside their classroom.
Exit Arrangements
1.10pm Infants via the Luttrellstown Door
2.10pm First Class – Luttrellstown Door
Children meeting brothers/sisters or attending after school activities should go to the hall.
Middle Floor – Porterstown Door. Children meeting brothers/sisters or attending after school activities should go to the hall.
Top Floor – Coolmine Door. Children meeting brothers/sisters or attending after school activities should go to the hall.

Staff Car Park
Please note that parents are asked not to park in the Staff Car Park between 8am and 2.30pm, the only exception being parents collecting disabled or injured children.  We would be grateful if you could also inform anyone who may be collecting your child/children on your behalf of this procedure. If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc. during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave).  We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Homework Club
There are currently no spaces available in Homework Club. Should any spaces become available in the New Year, they will be advertised on our Weekly Newsletter.

Fingal Anti-litter Poster Competition
Congratulations and well done to Bríon Connor from 5th Class and Alex Lanecki from 3rd Class who won the Dublin 15 Fingal ‘Anti-Litter’ poster competition! Their entries along with others from schools around Dublin 15 will be on display in Blanchardstown Library until this Friday.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Our Christmas Appeal is once again in aid of SVP. There are three different options:

  • Hampers (non-perishable food items). Items for hampers can be placed in the boxes beside the Christmas Tree in the school foyer.
  • Donate a toy/gift for a child (new items only).  Labels are available from the office and beside the Tree.
  • Financial Donations. If you would like to donate money to the SVP through the school, please drop it in to the office in an envelope marked “SVP”.  All monies donated will be lodged directly into the SVP Account on Wednesday 19 December.

Please note that the SVP collection van will be coming to the school on Wednesday 19 December to collect all items so if you wish to donate, please ensure it is dropped to the school by 2.10pm on the day.
