St Patrick’s Day 
The school will be closed on Monday 17 March for St Patrick’s Day and will reopen on Tuesday 18 March.

Seachtain na Gaeilge
Tá Seachtain na Gaeilge buailte linn aris.  We are having lots of fun activities to promote Gaeilge in the school this week.  Most of all, we hope everyone will have plenty of “spórt agus spraoi” as Gaeilge.  Perhaps you could use a “cúpla focal” at home too!

The following activities are taking place in the locality and may be of interest to you:

  • Session in Myos, Tuesday 18th at 9.30 PM. All welcome to play or to just come along
  • Phoenix Park Visitor’s Centre (for further details, check out www.phoenixpark.ie)

-       Irish coffee morning every Tuesday in March at 11AM 

-       Celtic Art Workshop, Monday 17th March, 11 - 2PM

Mórshiúl
We will be having a Mórshiúl for the children during the school day on Friday 14 March.  Children may wear a green top or t-shirt with their school tracksuit bottoms if they wish. 

Castleknock Commmunity College Open Day/Evening (current 5th Class)
Reminder: Open Day/Evening in CCC today, Wednesday 12 March.

Castleknock College – Open Night  
St Vincent’s Castleknock College will hold an Open Night from 7.00pm-9.00pm on Thursday 13th March for parents and prospective students for all years.  All are welcome to attend.  The Open Night will commence at 7.00pm with a brief address by the Headmaster, Mr Oliver Murphy and the Deputy Principal, Mr Chris Kinder.  Parents and boys will then have an opportunity to ask questions and to tour the school facilities and chat with students and staff.

Follow-Up information from HSE re MMR
The HSE have now informed us that if your child has received their two MMR Vaccinations, they will not be offering a third.  They will be checking their records to confirm your child has received their second vaccination.  If you have any queries, please contact the HSE Immunisation Department directly at 8975153. 

Leinster Rugby Treble Trophy Tour
“On Thursday last week, Darragh McGinley from Leinster Rugby visited our school to show us the three cups that Leinster won in 2013. He brought in the RaboDirect Pro 12 trophy, the Amlin Challenge Cup and the British & Irish Cup. We all had a great day and got to see all three trophies. Well done Leinster!”  Sean & Jack (6th Class)

“Knock-out Trials” for School Santry Team – Cumann na mBunscol Athletics Championships   

Trials continue on Friday afternoons as per schedule below. It should be noted that selection is based on a number of points – athletic ability, team spirit, reliability, sportsmanship, etc. Those who have made it onto the shortlists must attend if they want to be considered for the team. Those selected for the team must be available for the championships (held at Morton Stadium in Santry) the last week in May and/or first week in June. Please note the following schedule:

Friday 14th March U10 Girls from 2.15 – 3.00 

Friday 21st March U12 Boys from 2.15 – 3.00 

Friday 28th March U12 Girls from 2.15 - 3.00

Friday 4th April U11 Boys from 2.15 - 3.00

Friday 11th April U11 Girls from 2.15 – 3.00 

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: As all trials take place outdoors and are weather permitting they may have to be cancelled at short notice if the ground is too wet. Please discuss pick-up/collection arrangements with your child. Children should line up in yard outside Diswellstown Door at 2.15 where they will be met by teacher.  Also note that more dates/times will be added in order to prepare for the event. Children will be informed at school of any further arrangements and notices will appear in Newsletters. 

Parents Association News

Communion Blazers
The Parents Association would like to sincerely thank all parents who participated in the survey to assess if parents would be interested in the boys wearing crested blazers on their Communion Day.  The results were not conclusive so, for the moment, the Parents Association would like reassure parents that there will be no changes to the current communion practices.

Jack & Jill Foundation – Mobile Phone Collection

If you or a family member got a new phone recently, perhaps you would consider donating the old phone to the Jack & Jill Foundation Mobile Phone Collection.  We have a collection box in the main office.  Funds raised by the collection of Mobile Phones go a long way towards looking after very sick babies in their own homes.  For more information, please see www.jackandjill.ie.


St. Mochta’s Parish Mission 2014
The Parish are holding a mission led by St. Patrick’s Community in the parish from Sunday 9th March to Sunday 16th March. This is a great opportunity for new life in our parish, so do avail of this great opportunity to renew and strengthen your faith, hope and love in God and your neighbour.  Each day there will be Mass at 10am with the main Mission Service taking place at 7.30pm each evening.   More details on our Parish Website.
