Junior Infant Vaccinations

We have been informed by the HSE that they will visit the school on Tuesday 02 and Wednesday 03 December to administer to administer 4-in-1 (Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis/Polio) and MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella) vaccinations to Junior Infant classes. A letter from the HSE has been given to each child today.

Attention Pedestrians & Cyclists

As a result of the commencement of the housing development by Park, all pedestrians and cyclists must enter and exit via the Pedestrian Entrance ONLY. This is a Health & Safety requirement. Please note, the drop-off/pick-up facility will remain in operation at the main gate. All Cyclists (parents, staff, pupils and siblings) must dismount at the outer gate.

Childline Collection at Christmas Fair

“On Sunday 30th November at this year’s Christmas fair, the Student Council will be raising money for Childline. We are planning to have a stall and will be carrying collection buckets at the door for any donations possible. Please donate to a good cause. Any small amount is appreciated. Thank you for your support, The Student Council”.

Absences due to illness

Whilst there is no need to telephone the school if your child is sick, we would greatly appreciate if you would contact us if your child contracts a contagious illness e.g. measles, mumps, rubella, etc. There are children in the school who are at increased risk of contracting these illnesses. Parents must acknowledge their child’s absence from school, in writing, at the back of the child’s School Journal (Education Welfare Act). Parents of Infants children should speak to the teacher at the class line on the morning of their return.

Sick Children at School

Please do not send sick children to school for the following reasons:

  • Children are unable to cope with the demands of school when they are unwell.
  • Infection spreads rapidly in the confinement of the classroom.
  • There is no indoor supervision for sick children during breaktimes.

Hampers (non-perishable food items). Items for hampers can be placed in the boxes beside the crib in the school foyer between 01 and 04 December.
Donate an unwrapped toy/gift for a child (new items only) between 01 and 04 December. Boy/Girl Labels are available from the office.
Financial Donations. If you would like to donate money to the SVP through the school, please drop it in to the office in an envelope marked “SVP”. All monies donated will be lodged directly into the SVP Account on Wednesday 11 December.

Interested in helping out with a cultural display early next year? Parent Volunteers needed

At present we are working towards putting into practice a partnership approach to our school –school, family and community all working together for the benefit of the children we teach. In so doing, we are working towards improving different areas of school life. One of our projects is to provide an opportunity for all nationalities/cultures to celebrate aspects of their identity within our school. It is hoped to create awareness of some of the different cultures represented by the children at St Patrick’s and how these might influence curriculum areas such as literacy, music, art and SESE. Would there be any parents who might be able to offer any kind of help with a cultural display to be held in school early next year? Some ideas might be reading a story to the children in a different language, preparing/displaying food from a particular country, playing or providing samples of music, displaying art-works from a particular country etc. Other suggestions welcome. Help will be provided to any volunteers. If you think you might be interested in helping (even in a small way) please email info@stpatricksns.ie ASAP.
