Action Team for Partnership

The school has been invited to enter into a pilot scheme called Action Team for Partnership (ATP). The National Parents Council (NPC) and the Irish Primary Principals Network (IPPN) have adopted this highly successful American initiative. The scheme allows for parents, pupils, community members and staff members to collaborate on a number of projects for the benefit of the school. Two ATP committees have been established within our school and are now working on 3 projects. For further information refer www.npc.ie

Project 1: Internet Safety

Our primary aim is to provide a document to enlighten and educate students, staff and parents of students about some of the general language in use by children and more importantly to promote and support their safe and responsible use of various online media and other forms of online communication.

Project 2: Multi-Cultural Display

There will be a display before Easter which will represent the wide and varied multi-cultural community within the school.

Project 3: Grandparents Visit

There will be an opportunity for grandparents of Senior Infants to come to the school and to talk to the children about what life was like for them when they were young.

From time to time, the ATP will be looking for consent from parents for their children’s participation and for volunteers for the projects. If you are interested in becoming involved please contact the school at info@stpatricksns.ie. We thank you in advance for support with the projects.

New Handwriting Scheme for Junior Infants

We are introducing a new handwriting scheme for Junior Infants and each child will need a copy of the book. The school has purchased the books at a cost of €5.50 each and we will be seeking payment from parents through our online payment system after the Mid-Term break.

ACCORD Talks

As per our Upcoming Events section, Accord Talks are taking place in the month of February for Parents, 4th Class Girls, and all 5th and 6th Classes. The talk content will be emailed to you closer to the dates, together with a copy of the consent form. It is vital that you complete and return the consent form directly to your child’s class teacher ASAP, even if you are not giving your consent for your child to attend.

French Grinds

French grinds are now being offered in Diswellstown Community Centre for Junior and Leaving Certificates students. Special rates for past pupils of St. Patrick’s NS when group booking is made. Please contact Sabine ASAP to book on 087 227 9027. Sabine is French native and qualified with an Arts Degree in Linguistic Sciences & Teaching French as a Foreign Language (Dist.) and a Master of Arts 1 in Linguistic Sciences & TFFL.

Reminder re dismounting bicycles, etc

In the interest of everyone’s safety, all cyclists (pupils, parents, staff & siblings) should dismount from their bicycles at the main gates of the school and should not cycle on school grounds. For safety reasons, we would ask that you do not allow your children to use scooters or rollerblades on school grounds.
