Exiting the Building on Friday 27 March

For Health & Safety reasons, please note the following:

  • Infant children will exit the building at 11.30am on Friday.
  • As some of the senior classes use the same exit doors as the junior classes, the senior classes will not exit until approx. 11.40am.

Health & Safety during the Upgrade of Roundabout/School Avenue

Construction work has commenced on the site beside the school. This involves the upgrade of the Roundabout and School Avenue. The pathway along the school avenue will close for a number of weeks to facilitate these works. All those walking or cycling to school should enter via the Pedestrian Entrance ONLY. Cyclists (pupils, siblings, parents and staff) should dismount at the gate and walk their bikes/scooters to the bike stands. The Pedestrian gates will remain open until the centre closes at 10pm (except during school break times 10.20-10.30 & 12.00-12.30).

Cars may continue to enter via the main avenue to drop/collect children.

The Solar Eclipse

“An eclipse is when the moon covers the sun. For the eclipse on Friday, I made a periscope. A periscope is something you can look down into and see a mirror image of the sun. To make it you will need an empty shoe box, tin foil, white paper and a sharp scissors. My daddy helped me make it. Please listen to me, never look at the sun directly during an eclipse or you could blind yourself.” Christina Murphy – 2nd Class

World Book Day Vouchers

Remember to use your World Book Day Vouchers in March. Some surplus vouchers are available from a box at reception should you wish to take an additional voucher.

Sick Children at School

Please do not send sick children to school for the following reasons:

  • Children are unable to cope with the demands of school when they are unwell.
  • Infection spreads rapidly in the confinement of the classroom.
  • There is no indoor supervision for sick children during breaktimes.

Conjunctivitis

A parent has expressed concern re cases of conjunctivitis across a number of classes. Whilst this is by no means widespread, may we suggest that your child’s hand towel is changed more often and boil washed. Regular hand washing will prevent person to person transmission.
