Hand Towels

In order to maintain our Recycling Green Flag, we request that every child brings a small hand towel/facecloth to dry his/her hands after using the WC.  This should be kept in a school bag pocket and changed regularly. Children should not use toilet paper to dry their hands.

Sick Children at School

Please do not send sick children to school for the following reasons:

  • Children are unable to cope with the demands of school when they are unwell.
  • Infection spreads rapidly in the confinement of the classroom.
  • All supervision is concentrated on the yard areas.

Infection Notifications

In accordance with the “Management of Infectious Disease in Schools” HSE publication, we send notifications to parents of relevant classes affected if there is a report of an infectious disease or a contagious condition in the school.  The most common email notifications that we have sent to date are Chickenpox and Headlice. It is important that all parents act on the notifications, if the condition necessitates an action. This is for the Health and Safety of all our children.

Draíocht Choir Performance
The choir will be performing in Draíocht on Friday the 26th February at 8pm in The Three Tenors concert. Tickets are available through Draíocht box office. Further information will be forward to choir members re sound check rehearsal on performance day and times as soon as it is available. Ms Meade

School Policy re Photographs/Digital Recordings

We always seek parental permission to publish individual photographs of individual children on our website/in local newspapers/other publications.

However, we do put samples of children’s artwork/project work and/or group/class/whole school community photographs/digital recordings of children engaged in school activities on display around the school building. Surnames of children are not included.

Our ‘school Administration system – ‘aladdinschools’ facilitates the uploading of a photograph for each of our pupils. This is very useful to teachers at the start of each school year and may only be viewed by the class teacher/support teacher and the office. Please send an email to info@stpatricksns.ie  if you would prefer that we do not put your child(ren)’s  photograph(s) on the school administration system.

We would also ask parents to bear in mind, if recording school activities e.g. Christmas Plays, end of year displays, sports events, etc.), that not all parents would wish to have recordings displayed online.

School Insurance

The School Insurance company is Allianz and your child is covered under a 24/7 Pupil Insurance Policy.  For more information, see www.allianz.ie/otherproducts/schools.

Reminders

Action Team for Partnership Needs Your Help!

Action Team for Partnership launched our first ‘Cultural Day’ for our 3rd class students last academic year.  The children really enjoyed experience of discovering folklore from different cultures.  The day would not have happened without the amazing support we received from our parents.   Pictures of the day are on the website under ATP.

This year we will be following up on that success and are calling for parental support again.  The theme we are adopting is ‘1916 and other Revolutions’.  We are looking for parents, grandparents, family members and community members who have knowledge, and/or an interest, in either the 1916 Easter Rising or other Revolutions that have influenced a country in a significant way.  If you would like to help out, please email atp@stpatricksns.ie
