St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

Our Christmas Appeal is once again in aid of St Vincent de Paul and we thank you for your continued support and generosity to this appeal over the years. There are three different options to support this initiative:

  • Hampers (non-perishable food items). Items for hampers can be placed in the boxes beside the Christmas Tree in the school foyer between Monday 28 November and Friday 02 December  (see below for suggested items).
  • Toys/Gifts Donate an unwrapped toy/gift for a child (new items onlybetween Monday 28 November and Friday 02 December only.  Boy/Girl Labels are available from the office.
  • Financial Donations. If you would like to donate money to the SVP through the school, please drop it in to the office in an envelope marked “SVP” on or before Wednesday 07 December.  All monies donated will be lodged directly into the SVP Account on Wednesday 07 December.

The SVP Collection Van will therefore call to the school first thing on Friday 02 December.

No Presents Please

The staff at St Patrick’s do not expect presents at Christmas time. You may wish to make a donation to St Vincent de Paul instead.

Cards/Presents

We celebrate festivals such as Halloween, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter as part of the

overall school curriculum. However, we discourage the practice of exchanging cards and/or gifts

in school. Those who do not receive cards/presents and those who may not celebrate some of

the festivals can feel upset and isolated.

Thank You!
The Parents Association would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers who helped out over the weekend, with set up, clean up and on the day.  We would also like to thank all the parent body for all the donations received; the local businesses for their support and the staff of the school.  And a big thank you to all who came on the day to help make the fair a very exciting and fun filled day.  We hope you enjoyed.
Without all of your support, this annual event would not be the success it has become over the years.
Many thanks,
The PA Committee

Reminders

Sick Children at School

Please do not send sick children to school for the following reasons:

  • Children are unable to cope with the demands of school when they are unwell.
  • Infection spreads rapidly in the confinement of the classroom.
  • There is no indoor supervision for sick children during breaktimes.

Absences due to illness

Whilst there is no need to telephone the school if your child is sick, we would greatly appreciate if you would

contact us if your child contracts a contagious illness e.g. measles, mumps, rubella, etc.  There are children

in the school who are at increased risk of contracting these illnesses.  Parents must acknowledge their child’s absence from school, in writing, at the back of the child’s School Journal (Education Welfare Act). Parents of Infants children should speak to the teacher at the class line on the morning of their return.
