Farewell to Mr Clerkin

“Last Thursday, the principal left the school to go to Cork to be the new C.E.O. of all the principals in Ireland.  He said he might be back in about five years.  Some classes wrote poems for Mr Clerkin.  4th Class recited a poem in the Tigers Room.  At the end of the day, there was a little “Bye” ceremony to say thank you for everythging.  It was very sad to say good bye but we wish him luck in his new job.”

Rachel Hayes – 4th Class

“Last Thursday Mr Clerkin said farewell to St Patrick’s. The children and teachers were very sad and happy - sad because we will miss him and happy because he is moving on with his life.  The whole school said goodbye to a great Principal.  Everyone will miss him”. Eoghan Matthews – 4th Class

Parents Association News

URGENT REQUEST for Volunteers for Communion Receptions
We are looking for volunteers to help out at this year’s Communion Receptions being held in the Parish Centre on Saturday the 13th of May and the 27th of May. If you are available and can help serving refreshments between 10:30am and 12:00pm please contact Oonagh by text on 086-3231722  or Colette on 087-9380380.

We are especially interested in hearing from Parents/ Guardians from all 1st Classes as the majority of you will be directly involved in Communions and in these receptions next year. It is a really good insight into how successful this event is for all involved. It is such a happy event for our school and it is always a very enjoyable morning. So if you can spare some of your time, all help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks for your continued support.

Reminders

Most queries can be answered by accessing our website www.stpatricksns.ie or by viewing our Newsletters which are regularly emailed to each family and are also on our website.  Please make our website your “first port of call”.

The Reception/Administration Office hours are 8.30am to 2.30pm.  The office closes for lunch from 12.00-12.30pm daily.

It would be much appreciated if telephone calls to the school were made

only in emergency situations, and only after 9.00am.

Letters of Attendance

We would ask that if you require Letters of Attendance for Child Benefit/Travel/Visa purposes for your child/children, that you give the office as much advance notice as possible. Please email your request to info@stpatricksns.ie stating the purpose of the letter. If it is for travel/visa request purposes, please advise date of travel so that the letter can be dated within a week of travel.

Bumbleance Collection

We have a Bumbleance Collection container in the school. The items accepted (in good working condition only please) are as follows:

DVDs; Video Games; Hand Held Consoles; iPods/MP3; iPads/Tablets; Phones.

If you have any of these items for recycling, drop them into the main office.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.

Please ensure that if you are dropping in any of your child’s forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, etc., that they are clearly marked with your child’s name and their class teacher.

School Insurance

The School Insurance company is Allianz and your child is covered under a 24/7 Pupil Insurance Policy.  For more information, see www.allianz.ie/otherproducts/schools.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The school looks after the bookings and payment requests for Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Emma Louise Dance Academy and Chess.  If your child decides not to rejoin the new blocks of any of the above activities, it is essential that you email info@stpatricksns.ie so that we can remove your child from the list, and offer the place to another child.  It will also mean that you will not receive payment requests unnecessarily for the activity.
