HSE Junior Infants Vaccination Programme 2017/2018 – Extract from HSE Letter to Principal

“The Vaccination Team will visit your school on Monday 20 November and Tuesday 21 November to administer the Junior Infants Vaccination Programme for the school year 2016/17. There is no requirement for parents to attend the school on the day of vaccination. If a parent anticipates that their son or daughter will be distressed at the prospect of receiving a vaccination, it would be helpful if the parent attended so that they could reassure their child. The Vaccination Team has found that the majority of children in Junior Infants Classes receive the vaccinations with very few problems.”

Please note: The school merely facilitate the provision of a room/rooms to the HSE Vaccination Team.

Any queries you may have re the administration of Vaccinations should be directed to the Immunisation Department of the HSE. More details, including translations of the “4-in-1 and MMR” documentation, are available at this link. http://www.hse.ie/eng/health/immunisation/pubinfo/schoolprog/4in1mmr/4in1mmr.html

We are once again looking for Parent Helping Hands. We need parents to:

  • Help out in Junior Infants and Senior Infants for Maths Stations
  • To help out at Literacy Lift-off/Guided Reading stations
  • To help out in Junior infants  for Fine Motor Stations
  • To accompany children to and from the church
  • To accompany children  on school tours
  • To accompany children to sporting events

How do I get involved?

All Parent Helping Hands need to be Garda Vetted through the school. You need to bring in proof of address and a photo ID (Passport/Drivers licence) to the school and fill in an Application Form. We need to submit a form to Archbishop’s House. They will then email you an eform which you must return within 30 days otherwise the form will expire and you will need to begin the process all over again. When the ‘Vetting’ comes through you will be informed by Archbishop’s House and the Declaration will also be sent to the school.

Mobile Phone Policy

The Board of Management of St. Patrick’s NS does not allow pupils to have mobile phones at school (in the building, on the school grounds or during off-site activities such as tours/sports events/visits to the church etc.). Our revised Mobile Phone Policy is available to view on our website, www.stpatricksns.ie.

Access to School Building during the school day

If you are returning to the school for any reason during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate on the school office side of the building. (Please close gates after you leave).  For Child Protection reasons, the gates from the Diswellstown Road remain closed during school hours.

Labelling/Lost Property

The chances of returning lost property are greatly increased if ALL ITEMS ARE CLEARLY LABELLED with your child’s name. Please ensure jumpers, PE sweatshirts, coats, lunchboxes, beakers, etc, etc, are labelled with your child’s name.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.

Please ensure that if you are dropping in any of your child’s forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, etc., that they are CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME AND THE NAME OF THE  CLASS TEACHER.

Extra-Curricular Activities

If your child takes part in a number of Extra-Curricular activities, it might be useful to write the activities into their school journals on the appropriate days.  This will help them remember the activity and, if there is any confusion, the teacher can help by checking the journal.

Information regarding extra-curricular activities can be found on the website www.stpatricksns.ie under archive newsletters.
