Volunteers Needed - First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion
As part of the preparation for First Holy Communion, the Second Class children will be going to the church during the school day to practise (see dates below). We would ask, therefore, that children have an all-weather jacket with them each day. If you do not wish your child to attend, please inform the class teacher in writing.

Mobile Phones
The school cannot accept any responsibility for theft, loss, damage, or health effects (potential or actual) resulting from mobile phone use.
Please do not allow your child to bring a mobile phone to school unless it is absolutely essential as mobile phones are a distraction.
If it is necessary for children to bring a mobile phone, it must be switched off and in the schoolbag from the time they arrive at the school gate in the mornings until after they leave the school grounds in the evening.

Parents Association Golf Classic
The annual Golf Classic will take place on Tuesday 27 May in Ashbourne Golf Club. Full details will be available in next week's Newsletter.

Heavy Schoolbags
The children are allowed to leave books in school when they do not need them. Children should carry home only the books they need to complete their homework. We would ask you to ensure your child does not bring unnecessary items to school such as large reading books, extra pencil cases, notebooks etc.

Green Schools - Walking Bus
In order to encourage more children to walk to school a Walking Bus might be the answer. To find out more please check out www.fingalcoco.ie (Click first on Road and then the Road Safety Section). Peter Murphy, Road Safety Officer with Fingal Co. Co. is very interested in helping to set up a Walking Bus for St Patrick's. If there is sufficient interest from parents/guardians, he will organise a presentation in school. This would explain fully how the Walking Bus operates. If interested in attending such a presentation, please leave your name with Andrea at Reception by Monday 28th April so that a date can be arranged.

Contact Details
It is essential that we have each pupil's correct address and contact details (e.g. home telephone, parents' mobile numbers) on our database. If any of your details have changed since the beginning of the school year, please complete a Change of Address/Contact Details Form, which is available from the office.

Moving House?
If you are moving house and your child will not be returning to St Patrick's in the new school year, it is vital that you make contact with the class teacher or the Main Office as soon as possible as it will be necessary for you to complete a Transfer Form. We have a large number of children on waiting lists for all classes and we would like to be able to contact these parents as soon as possible.

St Patrick's Gaelic Football Team
"St. Patrick's headed down to St. Mochta's to play a Gaelic match on the 15th of April. St. Patrick's started well and developed a two-goal lead. Just before the second half, St. Patrick's lead by two points. The match then ended in a draw. We would like to thank Garry, Mr. O'Neill and Mr. Waring. We would also like to say a special "thank you" to Brendan, our Manager."
