Fingal Cleaner Communities Awards 2008
Yesterday we were informed that St Patrick’s N.S. has won a special school’s award in the above competition. More details later.

Procedure for Entry to School Building
St Patrick’s N.S. opens for classes at 8.30am.

  • Children who arrive after their line has gone in and before 08.50am, should make their way to the Blanchardstown Door, which is the first door on the right hand side of the school.
  • If you arrive after 8.50am, please use the main entrance, as you must sign your child’s name into the Sign-In Book.
  • Of course, we understand that children may occasionally arrive late in emergency circumstances.

If your child arrives after the bell goes, it is important to remind him/her to use the Blanchardstown Door to enter the building.

Meet & Greet Mornings
We are holding a series of informal meetings at 08.40am with the parents of each class grouping. The meetings will take place in the Tigers Room on the dates listed below. We request that you enter the school via the Diswellstown Door (Tigers Entrance) and up the blue stairs rather than through the main school entrance.

Green Week
To coincide with National Recycling Week (Oct 6 – 12) there will be a Green Week in school. One of the activities planned for 1st – 6th Class is our 3rd Annual Model-making Competition. As in previous years entries can be completed at home or in school (teacher will discuss with children) but the models should be the children’s own work. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed Entry Form. Closing date for all entries is Monday 13 October.
1st & 2nd Class: Design and make a toy or a pencil holder from recycled materials.
3rd & 4th Class: Design and make a hat or a vehicle from recycled materials
5th & 6th Class: Design and make something that can fly or “A building/place that is special to me” from recycled materials.
Note: Children in 5th & 6th can enter in groups (max 3), if they wish, but children in all other classes must submit individual entries. All entries should be relatively small – no bigger than a shoe-box for 1st - 4th and slightly larger for 5th and 6th.

Car Free Day
Please remember that International Car Free Day is Monday 22 September. Please encourage your children to walk/cycle/come on scooters to school that day. A good response will help greatly in achieving our second Green Flag for Energy Conservation.

Lost Property

We have a Lost Property Area inside the Blanchardstown Door of the school. If your child is missing anything, please pop in at drop off time (08.30 – 08.50am) and take a look. The chances of returning lost property are greatly increased if items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Dog Owners
Following concern from some parents, we would ask that you discourage any child from petting your dog. Please also note that dogs should not be brought onto school grounds.

Sponsored Walk
The annual School sponsored walk will take place on Sunday 19th October at 3pm. This event, arranged by the Parents Association, is a very important fundraising event for the school and generally a great day. The walk will start at the Papal Cross in the Phoenix Park, walking around the American Ambassador's residence and ending on return to the Car Park. Further details and sponsorship cards will be handed out to children in the next couple of weeks.

Extra Curricular Activities
French Class
Just a brief reminder to all parents of children in classes 3rd to 6th, that French Class begins next week, after school.
