Staff Meeting
There will be a Staff Meeting on Monday 09 February. All children will therefore finish at 12.00noon.

Parent/Teacher Meetings
Parent-Teacher Meetings will take place on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 February. In line with Department procedure, First to Sixth Classes will finish school at 1.55pm on both Wednesday and Thursday. Appointment times and dates have been issued. If you have not yet received an appointment time, please contact your child's class teacher.

Sick Children at School
As per page 19 of the School Booklet: "Please do not send sick children to school for the following reasons:

  • They are unable to cope with the demands of school when they are unwell.
  • All break-time supervision is concentrated entirely on the yard for safety reasons.
  • Infection spreads rapidly in the confinement of the classroom."

It is not necessary to telephone the school if your child is sick. Absence due to a minor illness should be advised in writing to the class teacher on your child's return, either by a note or in his/her homework journal.

The school should be informed however when there is an outbreak of certain contagious infections. Your G.P. will be able to advise you in this regard.

Safety
If your child is allowed to walk home to/from school, it is important to remind him/her regularly of the importance of never talking to or approaching strangers/cars and of walking in pairs/groups rather than alone.

Parking
Please note that parents are not permitted to park in the Staff Car Park when dropping or collecting children. If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc. during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave).

Collections during Break time
If you need to collect your child during the school day, please do not do so during yard time (10.20-10.30am and 12.00-12.30pm) as children must be signed out through the main office before leaving the premises. Your cooperation in this matter would be very much appreciated.

Unaccompanied Children
Pupils may not enter the school grounds until the pedestrian gates open at 8.20am. Under no circumstances should children enter or exit the school premises via the Staff Car Park gate at any time. Junior & Senior Infant children must be accompanied by an adult until handed over to the care of their teacher at 8.30am. Children who make their own way to school should time their arrival for 8.30am.

Luttrellstown Community College
Enrolment has now commenced for the 2009/2010 academic year. Enrolment packs are available from The Customer Service Officer, Co Dublin VEC, No 1 Tuansgate, Belgard Square East, Tallaght, Dublin 25. Closing date for enrolments is 13 February 2009.

Looking for Talent
This year Seachtain na Gaeilge will run from 09 - 13 March. It will be marked by the usual school events and celebrations. Last year, we were fortunate to have a number of parents/grandparents who took part in school activities and shared their musical talent. We would be delighted to hear from family members who play Traditional Irish Music and who might have the time to take part in activities during that week. Please contact the Office if you are interested.

Older Siblings at Extra Curricular Activities
Please note that when older siblings are involved in Extra Curricular Activities, younger siblings may not stay with them as they are not part of the activity group and are therefore not the responsibility of the Organizer.

Labelling/Lost Property
The chances of returning lost property are greatly increased if items are clearly labelled with your child's name. For your information and convenience, name labels can be purchased from Marks & Spencer's and also online from www.mynametags.ie (order forms are available in main reception area of the school).

Healthy Lunch Policy
We operate a Healthy Lunch Policy in the school. Fizzy drinks, crisps or sweets are not permitted. On Friday, children are allowed one treat, e.g. a bar. Please help us maintain the health of our children by following the guidelines in the school booklet.

Extra Curricular Activities
Any queries related to Extra Curricular Activities should be directed to the

Organiser of the Activity.Contact details are available on our school website.
