Staff Meeting
There will be a Staff Meeting on Monday 09 March.
All children will finish at 12.00noon.

Sacrament of First Penance & Reconciliation
Please note that the Sacrament of First Penance & Reconciliation for the communion children of St Patrick's N.S. will take place on Tuesday 10 March 2009 at 7pm in St Mochta's Parish Church. Due to space restrictions, the same sitting arrangement as during the Enrolment Ceremony will apply e.g. one parent can sit with child. Please ensure you are seated by 6.50pm.

ACCORD Primary Schools Relationship Programme
Facilitators from ACCORD will be delivering the Primary Schools Relationship Programmes to children in 4th (girls only), 5th and 6th classes, as part of our Relationship and Sexuality Education Programme. The talks for 4th class girls and the 6th classes will take place on Monday 30th March and talks for the 5th classes will take place on Tuesday 31st March. Consent forms will be sent out in due course which will need to be signed by parents/guardians in order for your child to participate in the programme. In conjunction with this programme, ACCORD will deliver a parent talk (prior to the course for the children) on Thursday night 26th March at 8pm in the school. The parents of all 4th class girls and all 5th and 6th class children are encouraged to attend this talk which many parents find very helpful in dealing with what can be a sensitive subject.

Meeting with Teachers
All questions / queries re school should be directed initially to the class teacher. Please contact the school secretary to make an appointment. (For safety reasons it is not possible for class teachers to meet with parents or take phone calls during class time). Parents of Infant children may be able to have a quick informal word with the class teacher when collecting their child at home time

Reminder re dismounting bicycles, etc
In the interest of everyone's safety, all cyclists should dismount from their bicycles at the main gates of the school avenue. Please also note that scooters, rollerblades or Heelys are not permitted on school grounds.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.
It would be greatly appreciated that if you are dropping in any of your child's forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, etc., that they are clearly marked with your child's name and their class teacher.

Easter Egg Raffle
Raffle Tickets will be on sale during breaktimes from Monday 09 - Friday 13 March at €1 per strip of four tickets. All monies raised will go towards the Niall Mellon Township Trust.

World Book Day
Thursday 05 March was World Book Day. Children in Infants/2nd/4th/6th received €1.50 vouchers which can be used to purchase special "World Book Day" books or against the value of any book in most book shops. Check out Blanchardstown Library/local bookshops for special events.

Soccer
"On Monday, the school soccer teams played their first match against Scoil Thomais. Even though we lost, we played well and had a great time". Katie - 5th Class

Summer Gaeltacht Courses
Parents of 5th & 6th Class children may be interested to know that some Coláiste Samhraidh cater for children from 10 years upwards. Coláiste Cholumba in Connemara is one such college. Leaflets/Application Forms are available from the Parents Information Notice Board.

Seachtain na Gaeilge
We will be celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge in school next week (09-13March). As in previous years, the children will partake in a variety of activities - music, dance, drama, artwork, etc. We expect to hear lots of Gaeilge being spoken in the school environment. Most of all, we hope everyone will have plenty of "sport agus spraoi". Perhaps you could use a "cupla focal" at home too!

Parent's Association Family Quiz
Thank you to all the families who came along last Sunday, to try our new venture. A great afternoon was had by all and congratulations to the quiz winners: 1st - Kearney Family, 2nd - Yeates Family and 3rd - Dorman Family.

Extra Curricular Activities
Downey Lanigan Academy of Irish Dance
CLASS FEIS 2009 - REMINDER . Feis scheduled for the 8th of March 2009. Venue: Castleknock Hotel. Times 2.PM, ready to dance. Please note, if you do not have the class top and skirt, please come in your school uniform (not tracksuit).

Science Club
On Tuesday 10 March, the Science Club will be going on an IBM Factory tour. Details will be sent out with each Science Club child on Monday.
