May 9th 2013 - Urgent Appeal for Volunteers - Transition from Primary to Post Primary Talk For Parents

Urgent Appeal for Volunteers
Parents/Guardians, we are appealing for your help with the First Holy Communion Reception in the Parish Centre on Saturday, 11th May, serving refreshments from 10.30am – 12.30pm.  Helpers are also needed to steward the Church Car Park from 9.30am – 10.00am.  If you are available and would like to volunteer, please call or text Colette on  087 9380380.

Transition from Primary to Post Primary Talk For Parents
The transition from Primary school to Secondary school is one of those life events that most people can recall in some way or other.  The purpose of this talk is to outline the major changes involved for both children and parents and to provide some useful tips on how best to manage the transition so that the experience can be undertaken with minimum stress - for the whole family!  Tom Casey, Teen Counsellor, Crosscare, will facilitate the talk for parents in St Patrick’s National School on Tuesday 14th May 2013 at 8pm. Tom brings with him a lot of relevant experience and practical advice which we feel will be very beneficial for parents. Last year the feedback from parents who attended this talk was hugely positive, all of whom said they would recommend this talk to other parents.  The talk is aimed at parents with children in 5th and 6th class but all are welcome.
Time & Venue: 8pm to 9pm with additional time available for questions in the Tigers Room.

Volunteers for Confirmation Reception
This year our 6th Class children are making their Confirmation on Tuesday 21st May and Tuesday 28th May at 11am in St. Mochta’s Church, Porterstown.  We are appealing for volunteers to help with the Confirmation reception, which will take place in St. Mochta’s Parish Centre following the ceremony.
We ideally need two groups of helpers, although if you have the time, perhaps you could volunteer to stay for both sessions.  The Confirmation ceremony will take approx. an hour and a half – so volunteers will be required to be in the Parish Centre from 9.15am to 11am to help set up, then from 12pm to 2.30pm approx. for the reception (this will include the clean-up following the reception).  We appreciate that this may clash with your child finishing school, but would appeal to volunteers to make arrangements for friends/family to collect their children.
Please text/phone Bridin 086 3845931 if you are available to help, thank you.
